Titans Fall Short as Prowlers Claim Championship
April 22, 2016 - Federal Prospects Hockey League (FPHL)
Danbury Titans News Release
Despite a valiant effort to continue the series, the Danbury Titans fell short as Port Huron defeated Danbury by a score of 3-1 in Game 3. Port Huron wins the best of five series 3-0 and claims the Commissioner's Cup for the first time.
Two goals in the first period from Chris Leveille and Jared Hicks gave Port Huron the early lead. An early second period goal from John Scorcia would give the Titans some life. However, as has been the case all series, goaltender Dan McWhinney was the difference stopping 38 of 39 shots he faced. A glove save late in the third period on Scorcia kept the lead for Port Huron. With the goalie pulled, Danbury would mount one last tough effort before Ahmed Mahfouz would bury an empty net goal.
