Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
GRAND CHUTE, WI - The 2013 baseball season got off to a slow start for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at the gate. However, an outstanding second half - including a spectacular August - allowed the Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers to set a pair of franchise attendance records by the time the final out of the season was recorded.
The Timber Rattlers set a record for average attendance with 3,780 fans per game. The team also set a record for the most fans to see the Timber Rattlers play at Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium with 241,938 patrons. Wisconsin's single season attendance record was set in 2009 with a mark of 253,240, but that included 17,880 fans that saw Wisconsin play at Miller Park that season.
The first game to be played at the renovated home of the Timber Rattlers was on April 8, 2013 and drew 3,036. But, winter weather forced the next four home dates to be postponed. Five of the first seven home dates of the season were either canceled or postponed. Wisconsin would play 64 of their scheduled home dates in 2013.
The weather and crowds picked up as the season progressed. The comeback culminated in the month of August. The Timber Rattlers drew 71,551 fans to Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium in August. The team averaged an attendance of 5,111 for their 14 home games in the final month of the season.
The 2013 season marks the fourth time in the last five years Wisconsin has set a record for average attendance. The previous mark of 3,645 fans per game was set in the 2011 season.
The Wisconsin front office is hard at work getting ready for the 2014 season, which will be the twentieth season of Timber Rattlers baseball. The schedule is available and ticket packages - in both full and partial season options - are on sale now. Fans may purchase ticket packages or schedule a group of twenty or more for next season by contacting the Time Warner Cable Field Ticket Office or by calling (800) WI-TIMBER or (920) 733-4152 today. The Ticket Office is open Monday to Friday from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm.
