West Oahu CaneFires News Release

Tim Bascom tossed five perfect innings in support of West Oahu as the CaneFires downed Honolulu, 7-2, this afternoon in seven innings at a humid Hans L'Orange Park in Waipahu.

West Oahu (7-7-1) racked up 11 hits and took advantage of six Honolulu walks in support of Bascom (1-1) who ended up retiring all 15 batters he faced in order, striking out two.

CaneFires first baseman Miles Durham drove in three runs on the afternoon, and now has 15 RBIs on the season. Wally Crancer also drove in three runs, all of which scored on a bases-loaded triple down the right field line in the second inning.

Honolulu (10-4-1) received a hit from both Darin Holcomb and Ryo Hijirisawa, the latter of which tripled to right field and plated Holcomb in the sixth inning. The Sharks did all their damage in the sixth frame, taking advantage of West Oahu reliever Mike Ramlow who allowed both hits and runs.

Josh Stinson (2-1) took the loss for Honolulu, surrendering five runs on seven hits through 2 1/3 innings.

The squads return to Hans L'Orange Park tomorrow at 3 p.m. for the finale of a three-game set.
