Tigers Snap Three-Game Losing Streak

NORWICH-The Connecticut Tigers (25-32) scored five runs on six hits to earn a 5-3 win over the Hudson Valley Renegades (37-20) before 2,603 fans at Dodd Stadium

RHP Angel Nesbit (2-3) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory and RHP Hunter Scantling tossed two scoreless innings to get his first save of the season.

Connecticut scored a run in the first inning. CF Jake Stewart (0-3) walked and went to second base on a sacrifice bunt by LF Danry Vasquez (0-3). RF Patrick Smith (1-4) reached base on an error that allowed Stewart to score for a 1-0 lead.

Hudson Valley tied the game in the second inning. SS Ryan Dunn (1-4) singled, went to second base on a passed ball and stole third base. He scored on a single by C Jake DePew (2-4) for a 1-1 tied score.

The Renegades scored two runs in the sixth inning to take a 3-1 lead before the Tigers scored three runs in the sixth inning. Smith doubled and both DH Tyler Hanover (2-3) and 3B Edgar Corcino (0-2) were hit by pitches to load the bases.

C Timothy Remes (1-3) earned a bases-loaded walk and 2B Jordan Dean (1-4) hit a two-run single to score Hanover and Corcino for a 4-3 lead.

1B Jauner Aguasvivas (1-4) doubled home 3B Edgar Corcino (0-2) in the eighth inning for a 5-3 lead.

The Tigers welcome in the Aberdeen IronBirds, the NYPL affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. for the start of a three-game series. The Tigers will present the mini-bat giveaway to the first 500 fans on Saturday as well as the Home Plate event featuring former Detroit Tiger Frank Tanana. LHP Jorge Rivera (0-1, 3.55) gets the start for Aberdeen against Connecticut RHP Charlie Gillies (0-3, 3.29). The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League.
