Tiger-Cats Select Four Players in 2021 CFL Global Draft

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats made four selections in the 2021 Canadian Football League Global Draft on Thursday afternoon, including Australian punter Joel Whitford (pictured) who was selected in the first round, eighth overall. For full draft results, visit the league's Global Draft Tracker.
The Tiger-Cats four selections were as follows:
Whitford, 27, appeared in 38 games over three seasons as the primary punter at the University of Washington (2017-19), posting 5,121 yards on 119 attempts for an average of 43.0 yards per punt. The 6-3, 209-pound native of Neerim South, Australia was a 2019 All-Pac-12 Honourable Mention and a 2018 Academic All-Pac-12 Honourable Mention during his career with the Huskies. He also spent time at Santa Barbara City College before transferring to Washington.
Mulumba (muh-LUM-buh), 28, played 24 games at defensive end over two seasons at the University of Colorado (2017-18), registering 57 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one quarterback sack with the Buffs. The 6-4, 285-pound native of Helsinki, Finland played one season at Diablo Valley College in 2015, posting 63 tackles, nine tackles for loss and four quarterback sacks in 10 games, while earning an All-Bay 6 League selection. From 2009 to 2011 in his native Finland, Mulumba was a state champion in wrestling, a three-time national judo champion and a Scandinavian judo champion in 2010. He also played for the Helsinki Roosters of the American Football Association of Finland in 2012.
Izinyon (EYE-zihn-yawn), 27, suited up at linebacker for the Rostock Griffins of the German Football League 2 for two seasons (2018-19), filling the stat sheet with 272 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss, six quarterback sacks, eight forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries and one interception. Since 2015, the 6-1, 240-pound native of Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire England has also played for the Tychy Falcons in Poland, the Hameenlinna Huskies in Finland, the London Warriors of Britain's Premier League and the University of Surrey in England.
Eberle (EH-buhr-LAY), 24, is currently with the National Football League's Las Vegas Raiders, originally signing as an undrafted free agent in April 2020 and rejoining the team in January 2021 on a reserve/future deal. The 6-1, 186-pound native of Nuremberg, Germany played four years at Utah State University (2016-19), appearing in 43 games and finishing his collegiate career as the most decorated placekicker in program history. He left the program as the school's all-time leader in points scored (359), points per game (8.34), field goals made (64), extra points made (167), extra point attempts (167), PAT percentage (1.000), consecutive PATs (167) and field goals from 50-plus yards (4). Eberle also garnered Pro Football Focus honourable mention All-American, second-team Senior CLASS All-American, first-team All-Mountain West and Phil Steele Publication's first-team All-Mountain West honors during his time with the Aggies.
