GREENVILLE, S.C., January 26 – Charleston Lowgators point guard Tierre Brown has signed a 10-day contract with the New Orleans Hornets, making him the fourth "Gatorade Callup" of the season for the National Basketball Development League.

Brown is the second Charleston player to be called up to the NBA in the last 12 days. Forward Ime Udoka just completed a 10-day assignment with the Los Angeles Lakers and will return to Charleston to take the vacant spot on the Lowgators roster. Since the NBDL began competition in November 2001, 20 players have received 26 "Gatorade Callups" to play for NBA teams.

Mikki Moore of Roanoke and Ronald DuPree of Huntsville are the other two "Gatorade Callups" of the 2003-04 season. Moore signed with the New Jersey Nets in December and DuPree recently signed a second 10-day contract with the Chicago Bulls.

Brown has played in and started 21 games for the Lowgators, leading the team in scoring with 17.6 points per game, which is third in the NBDL. He also averaged 33.2 minutes, 6.9 assists (third in NBDL), 1.9 steals (third in NBDL) and 3.0 rebounds per game.
