Rockford Thunder News Release

PRAIRIE du CHIEN, Wis. - The Thunder traveled northeast on Saturday night to take on a team of men from Prairie du Chien, and they left town with a 2-1 extra inning win over the area stars.

Neither team's offense was able to do much in the game, in particular that of the Area Stars, as they struck out 13 times against the four Thunder pitchers. Cat Osterman (Texas), Cassidy Scoggins (Southern Illinois) and Allison Kime (Central Florida) combined to throw six shutout innings, while Megan Brown (Florida Southern) threw two innings and yielded the one run.

For the Thunder, newcomers Jenna Rhodes (Virginia Tech) and Lyndsey Angus (Kentucky) each had good days at the plate, with Rhodes collecting two hits on the night.

After seven innings the score was knotted at one and the team's agreed to play one extra frame. Shanel Scott (Oklahoma State) came in to score the eventual winning run on a wild pitch. The Area Stars would get a runner to third in the extra inning, but they were unable to score as Kime recorded consecutive strikeouts to end the game.

The Thunder will be back in action on Friday night when they travel to Madison, Wis. to take on the Chicago Bandits at the Hitters SportsPlex.

The team will return to Rockford for exhibition games on Saturday, May 30 and Sunday, May 31. Saturday's Celebrity Slow Pitch Game will begin at 6 p.m. and Sunday's game with the Bandits will start at 3 p.m. On Sunday, the Thunder will wear the uniforms of the Rockford Peaches. Both games will be played at Thunder Park at Roscoe (5444 Swanson Road).
