Thunder to host local and regional portion of Aquafina Pitch, Hit & Run Competition

ROCKFORD - Area youth will get a chance to compete in the annual Aquafina® Major League Baseball® Pitch, Hit & Run™ competition as the Rockford Thunder will host a local competition on Sunday, May 10, 2009 at Thunder Park in Roscoe.
The competition will begin at 11 a.m. with on-site registration beginning at 10 a.m. Both girls and boys are encouraged to participate.
Pitch, Hit & Run™ is the Official Skills Competition of Major League Baseball®. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball skills.
Competitors are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14 and have the chance to advance through the four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals at the 2009 MLB™ All-Star Game®.
The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each age group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of Competition. The sectional competition will also be hosted by the Thunder and will take place on Sunday, May 17.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Registration forms will be taken on-site, however, participants can download the registration form by CLICKING HERE.
All participants for the May 10th competition will receive a voucher good for a free ticket to a Thunder game during the 2009 season.
