May 29, 2009 - ROCKFORD - The Rockford Thunder announced today that they will host the Chicago Bandits and softball superstar Jennie Finch in an exhibition game at Thunder Park at Roscoe (5444 Swanson Road) on Sunday, May 31 at 3:05 p.m.
For this game only, the Thunder will also wear the replica uniforms of the former All American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) team the Rockford Peaches. Each player will be outfitted in the full uniform worn by the Peaches during their time in Rockford.
The uniforms will be auctioned off immediately following the game with part of the profit going to the AAGPBL. Each jersey will start with a minimum bid of $50.
Sunday may also be the only appearance of the 2009 season in Rockford for Jennie Finch of the Bandits. Finch, along with the Thunder's Cat Osterman, will continue to compete on a shortened schedule for the United States Olympic Team.
Tickets for the game may be purchased at the gate for $7 for general admission and $10 for bleacher tickets. Group tickets will also be available for purchase Sunday at the park and the box office opens at 1:30 p.m.
