Thunder Sneak into Playoffs with 24-20 Record
August 19, 2007 - National Pro Fastpitch (NPF)
Rockford Thunder News Release
ROCKFORD, Ill. - Because of a Philadelphia Force extra innings loss to the New England Riptide on Sunday afternoon, the Rockford Thunder have earned the final playoff spot in next week's double-elimination tournament in Kimberly, Wisc.
With a record of 24-20 the Thunder will be the No. 4 seed in the four-team bracket and they will take on National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) regular season champion Washington. The Glory earned the No. 1 seed by finishing the regular season with an impressive record of 34-10.
The Thunder definitely did not make things easy on themselves in the last couple of weeks as they dropped seven of the final eight games. Offense was the main reason for the struggles, as the team was shutout in four of those losses.
Rockford will now forget about the recent struggles and focus on the upcoming tournament. The format of the tournament is a four-team, double-elimination tournament with three wins needed to be the 2007 NPF Champion.
Game one for the Thunder will be Friday, August 24 at 8:15 p.m. in Kimberly.
