Minnesota Thunder News Release

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Thursday, April 12, 2007) - The Minnesota Thunder's roster continues to be closer to completion with the recent return of defensive midfielder Terry Alvino, pending USSF approval, and the addition of Ethiopian U-20 National Team player Lencho Skibba, pending USSF approval and international clearance.

Alvino returns to the Thunder under a three year contract that will see him with the club through 2009. The 6-0, 170 pound defensive midfielder became a staple on the field after scoring a goal in his first game with the Thunder in 2006 as a rookie. Last season he played in 26 games logging over 1,600 minutes with four goals and one assist.

"Terry took advantage of his opportunity last season," said Thunder head coach Amos Magee. "He came in just a few days prior to our first game of the season and proved to us and our fans that he belongs at this level. We're excited to see him here for the next three years."

Alvino spent the off-season playing for Otago United in the New Zealand Football Championship. While there he played in 21 games and tallied four goals.

Skibba, 19, is a native of Dire Dawa, Ethiopia, has also signed a three year agreement with the Thunder. He was a member of Alemania Aachen of the German Bundesliga Second Division from 2003 to 2007 where he found himself the third highest scorer on the team this past season.

'Lencho Skibba showed up uninvited at a winter training session with (the Coaching Director of the Blackhawks) Ted Kroeten," said Magee. "For some reason I let him jump into training with us and we were immediately blown away by his skill and work rate. At only 19 years of age, he brings a great professionalism and mentality to training and games. He is good in tight spaces and fits very well with the style of our team."

Magee added, "Furthermore, I am thrilled that Lencho will be able to serve as a role model for many young and talented East African soccer players in the Twin Cities community.'

Skibba played for the Ethiopian U-17 team in 2003 and spent his youth career playing for the Legeharee Youth Project, the Dashen Sport Club and the Medir Babur Sport Club before starting his professional career in Germany. He also spent time with MSV Duisburg in Germany and had appearances for the Ethiopian U-20 team this past fall.

The Thunder opens its home season on Sunday, May 6 at 5:05 p.m. at James Griffin Stadium against the defending USL champion Vancouver Whitecaps. The game will be complimentary and NO admission will be charged. For more information, call 651.917.TEAM or visit www.mnthunder.com
