Thunder Re-Sign Three Pitchers

McAllen, Texas----The McAllen Thunder announced on Monday that they have resigned pitchers Kurt Houck, Bryan Smith, and Quinn Bright from last season.

Houck, 25, is entering his third professional season, and second in McAllen. Last season Houck made 15 starts for the Thunder; he went 5-9 with a 5.79 earned-run average and threw complete game with McAllen.

Bright, 23, is also entering his third professional season, and second with McAllen. Last year Bright went 1-1 with a 5.53 earned-run average in 24 appearances for the Thunder. This right handed hurler has spent most of his time coming out of the bullpen and will be looked to by Manager Al Gallagher to do more of the same this summer.

Smith, 23, spent his first season with the Thunder and went 2-1 with a 4.91 earned-run average in 17 games. The southpaw struck out 28 batters while yielding just 11 walks in his first effort in professional baseball.

The Thunder will start their home season on Tuesday, June 5th when they will face the Abilene Prairie Dogs at Edinburg Baseball Stadium at 7:05 pm.
