Thunder Looks To Win Season Series Against Battery Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Thursday, May 31, 2007) - The Thunder will look to beat the Charleston Battery at James Griffin Stadium on Saturday, June 2 and take the season series between the two teams. Kick off is set for 7:05 p.m.

The Thunder is teaming up with Midway TMO and Metro Transit for Walk/Bike/Bus Night. All fans who walk, bike, or ride the bus to the game will receive $4 off their ticket for that night's game. Metro Transit is offering free bus fare on routes 16 (on University) and 21 (on Selby) two hours before the game until two hours after the game. Fans can simply mention the promotion to the bus driver and show their ticket stub after the game in order to get the free fare. Mention the promotion at the ticket booth to get your discount. The discount is limited to one discount per participant.

About the Thunder

Minnesota (1-4-2, 5 points) is coming off a loss at home against former Thunder forward Melvin Tarley and the Puerto Rico Islanders. The Thunder led early in the match after Aaron Paye scored, but couldn't hold onto the lead as they gave up goals in the 45th and 87th minute. Paye has been a force for the Thunder since joining the team late providing much of the Thunder attack in the last three matches.

About Charleston

Charleston (2-2-3, 9 points) played in California against the Victory on Wednesday night, coming away with a 1-1 tie. However, the Battery's leading goal and point scorer, Stephen Armstrong, was ejected from the game and will not be available to the Battery for Saturday's match.

Season Series

The Thunder traveled to Charleston for the first game of the season and came away with one point in the match after a 0-0 draw. This will be the last meeting between the teams during the regular season in 2007.

Up Next

The Thunder will travel to Montreal on June 5 to take on the undefeated Impact. The Thunder will return home on June 12 to take on the El Paso Indios (USASA) in the first round of the US Open Cup. Kickoff for the open cup match will be at 7:05 p.m.
