FRISCO, Tex. - How many flag football tournaments have you been in where you line up against former NFL and Arena Football League players or get a chance to play pro football if you win?

The inaugural Frisco Thunder Ultimate Flag Football Challenge will offer both those incentives when the two-day tournament begins play June 7, 2008 at the Colony Five Star Sports Complex, 4100 Blair Oaks Drive, The Colony, Tex.

Not only are bragging rights and a trophy up for grabs, the winning team will take on an All-Star squad led by former Minnesota Vikings WR Jake Reed - The Thunder's owner - and Head Coach Troy Esprit -- who spent a decade playing arena football -- in the finale game of the Challenge.

"If you want to be a Pro, you must first beat a Pro,'' Esprit said. "Just because we've haven't been on a field in a few years doesn't mean all our skills are gone. We'll give you a great game, and a great experience that other flag football tournaments don't provide."

Esprit has another ulterior motive - finding talent for next year's team. Tournament MVPs get an invitation to the Intense Football League team's 2009 training camp - no fees or tryouts.

"You never know where you're going to find players,'' Esprit said. "I'm fortunate enough to be a great football market where talent is available. If a player shows me something, I'm going to give him an opportunity."

Members of the winning team receive season tickets for the Thunder's 2009 season opener in the renovated DeJa Blue Arena in the Dr Pepper Star Center and will be introduced at the home opener. Team pictures and action photography as well as complete coverage of the entire tournament will be highlighted on the team's web site at www.friscothunderifl.com.

The tournament format will be 5-on-5 with arena football rules. Each team can have as many as ten players ages 15 years or older. The entry fee of $250 per team (maximum of 30) includes t-shirts.

The Thunder (5-2) plays the Odessa Roughnecks (2-2) Saturday at 7:11 CST in Odessa. Fans can listen live or view the game for a nominal fee at www.friscothunderifl.com
