IFL Players of the Week - week 7

Corpus Christi, Texas: The Intense Football League Office awarded the leagues outstanding Players of the Week, on Thursday. Frisco Thunder's Wes Cooper, Alaska Wild's DeMarcus James, along with Odessa Roughneck's Jimmy Conner were recognized for their outstanding play, this past weekend.

Wes Cooper, Quarterback for the Frisco Thunder earned Offensive Player of the Week for the second time of the 2008 season. Cooper, playing against his former team, led the Thunder to a 72-31 victory over the Corpus Christi Hammerheads. He completed 18 of 31 passes for 223 yards. He also tossed 7 Touchdowns with the longest going for 46 yards. Cooper and the Thunder are standing at 5-2 and face the Odessa Roughnecks this Saturday Night in Odessa.

Defensive Player of the Week goes to Alaska Wild DeMarcus James. James, also a second time Defensive Player of the Week winner, added to his League leading interception total ( 8 ) by snagging 2 more last Thursday evening. He registered 6 tackles, 4 being solo. He also broke up 2 passes. The Alaska Wild will have a Bye week this weekend.

Odessa Roughnecks Kick Returner Jimmy Conner earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Conner, another second Player of the Week winner, returned 4 kicks for 112 yards for an average of 28.0, in the victory over the CenTex Barracudas 81-62. He leads the league in return average with a 24.2 a return. Conner and the rest of the Roughnecks welcome in the Frisco Thunder this Saturday night at 7:11pm.
