Frisco Thunder News Release

FRISCO, Tex. (June 26, 2008) -- The only constants on the Frisco Thunder roster this season have been change ... and Michael Larry.

When the Thunder plays its regular season finale Saturday at San Angelo, Larry will be the only player other than kicker Dennis Hopovac (insert your own kicker comment here) to play in every game for a team plagued with injuries.

In all, 45 players have suited up for the Thunder at least once this season. Larry may not have outwitted or outplayed, but he definitely has survived.

"I just tried to stay dedicated,'' said Larry, an indoor rookie this season after spending time with the outdoor Dallas Diesel semi-pro squad. "If the coaches tell me to go somewhere and do something, I did it to make sure I was on that 20-man roster on game. The harder I went in practice made playing the games easier."

During the week, the coaches told Larry to go to two fitness gyms for conditioning and workouts. Larry will sound like a spokesperson for both LA Fitness and Zoom in the next few paragraphs, but that's because he believes both establishments are the reason for his perfect attendance.

"When you go to LA Fitness, you have a personal trainer and you're never alone," Larry said. "The workouts they show you help you build your body.

"And going to Zoom, I've never had anything like that workout in high school or college," Larry added. "It translated to the field ... third or fourth quarter and I still felt great."

Head Coach Troy Esprit appreciated Larry's comments.

"Michael got the most out of what Zoom and LA Fitness had to offer of anyone on the team," Esprit said. "He was a team player this season, very coachable and dependable.

The closest Larry came to missing a game was when he partially tore a quad in the first loss to Odessa. A week of rehab and he played a key role in the Thunder's best moment of the season -- a 72-31 shelling of Corpus Christi.

Larry's currently third on the team with five sacks, and has registered 12 quarterback hurries this season.

Frisco (6-7) can clinch a playoff berth with its third victory over the Stampede Express (4-9) this season. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
