Thunder announce date for spring tryouts

ROCKFORD - The Rockford Thunder and General Manager Aaron M. Moore announced today that they would hold its annual spring open tryouts on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10 at Thunder Park (5444 Swanson Road) in Roscoe, Ill.
The tryouts will begin at 11 a.m., with registration beginning promptly at 10:30 a.m. In addition to the standard tryout stations, the participants will be broken down into teams where they will compete in several live action games.
The cost to attend the tryouts is $60 per player and those interested in trying out can download the form the team's website at www.thunderprofastpitch.com/community. Player's that are planning on attending the tryouts and need hotel rooms should contact the Holiday Inn Express at (815) 654-4100 and mention the THUNDER to get the team rate.
If poor weather conditions exist during the dates of the tryouts, an alternate location will be announced at a later date.
"The tryouts have produced several quality players across the entire league and the Thunder is no different," said Moore. "We've been fortunate to sign three players in two years so far, and two of those players (Jamie Davison; Megan Brown) are still with the team."
"We've invited four players back from the tryouts we had in the fall, so we're excited to see the competition we will have this season."
The tryouts are open to all women who are at least 21 years old and have completed their college eligibility. Those athletes still in college and competing are not allowed to tryout due to NCAA regulations.
The spring open tryouts are free and open to the public to attend.
