
Thunder Announce 2008 Roster

MUSKEGON - The Muskegon Thunder of the Continental Indoor Football League held its annual contract signing party in front of a packed house on Wednesday evening at Buffalo Wild Wings, 5584 Harvey Street in Muskegon. The 25-man roster was finalized after practices earlier in the week. Of those signing on for duty in 2008 were 12 players from the 2007 squad including team award winners Maurice Simpson (Defensive Player of the Year), Matt Bolles (Offensive Lineman of the Year), Ruben Esparza (Defensive Lineman of the Year), Mike Nichols (Special Teams Player of the Year) and Corey Sullivan (Coach's Choice Award).
Newcomers with previous indoor experience include Ernest Bentz (Wyoming Cavalry, Fort Wayne Fusion), Mike Brennan (Kansas Koyotes), and Dan Richard (Wyoming Cavalry).
The coaching staff has been bolstered as well. Joining Head Coach Shane Fairfield for a second season with the team is Offensive Coordinator and Director of Player Personnel Brent White. New additions in 2008 are Defensive Coordinator Ryan Hodges and Offensive Line Coach Jason Schmiedeknecht, who played center for the Thunder in 2007. Equipment Manager and jack-of-all-trades Ted Bartholomew, who saw active duty with the team as a backup kicker last season, returns as well.
