FRISCO, Tex. (February 7, 2007) - Former Texas A&M defensive lineman Linnis Smith, who had a brief pre-season stint with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars, along with former Plano High quarterback Rhett Morgan have been added to the Frisco Thunder's roster, Head Coach Troy Esprit announced today.

Smith (6-4, 310) was a mainstay on the Aggies' defensive front from 2000-2004, posting 61 tackles and two sacks during his 2002 junior season and a 51-tackle, one sack effort his senior year.

The Tyler, Tex. native signed with the Jaguars as a free agent in 2004, appearing in one pre-season game before an automobile accident temporarily halted his playing career. He returned to action in 2006 with three games for the Shreveport-Bossier Battlewings of af2 in 2006.

"Linnis is not only going to bring an effective pass rush to the Thunder on the field, but a positive role model and mentor off the field," Esprit said. "He has a quick first step and good strength that'll give us a strong push on the line."

Morgan was a first-team all-district quarterback for Plano in 2002, where he also lettered in baseball and finished sixth in the state as a wrestler. He attended Midwestern State and Texas State, where he earned a bachelor's degree in kinesiology.

Morgan will be reunited with former Plano HS teammate Kendrick Alexander, who signed with the Thunder last month.

"Rhett adds depth to the quarterback position as we ramp up to camp," Esprit said.
