
Three Sounders FC Players Called in for World Cup Qualifier

RENTON, WASH. - Seattle Sounders FC announced today that midfielder Brad Evans and forward Eddie Johnson have been called in by the U.S. National Team and midfielder Mario Martinez has been called in by Honduras for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifier between the United States and Honduras on February 6 in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The match marks the first match of the Final Round of World Cup qualifying for both teams.
Evans, 27, has seven caps for the United States. His last competitive match for the U.S. National Team was against Haiti at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on July 11, 2009. Evans started and played 90 minutes in Tuesday's friendly against Canada.
Johnson, 28, has 45 caps and 14 goals for the United States. He helped the team advance to the Final Round of qualifying with two goals and one assist in matches against Antigua and Barbuda and Guatemala last October. Johnson made his national team debut in 2004. He played 73 minutes in Tuesday's friendly against Canada.
Martinez, 23, has 26 caps and three goals for Honduras. He recently joined Honduras for the Copa Centroamericana in Costa Rica, and has also played in four World Cup Qualifiers as well as the 2012 London Olympics since joining Sounders FC.
Additionally, Sounders FC defender Adam Johansson has been called in by the Sweden National Team for a friendly against Argentina in Stockholm, Sweden on February 6. Johansson has 14 caps for Sweden and was recently called in for the 2013 King's Cup in Thailand.
All four players are expected to join Sounders FC preseason training following the matches.
