Charlotte County Redfish News Release

AIKEN, S.C. - The Aiken Foxhounds (34-39, 12-16) scored broke a 4-4 tie with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and beat the Charlotte County Redfish (19-53, 7-19) 7-4 Friday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. Kelly Hunt capped the inning with a two-out, two-RBI double.

A back-and-forth contest entered the eighth inning tied at four, and Aiken reliever Gary Lee set the Redfish down in order in the top of the frame.

Dustin Richardson led off the Foxhounds' half of the eighth with a walk and immediately stole second. Richardson then scored as Tim Sweeney ground ball was thrown away by the third baseman. After a sacrifice bunt moved Sweeney to third and Redfish hurler Aaron Easton recorded the second out of the inning, Andy Lane walked before Hunt's double provided the insurance.

Mark Dewey pitched the ninth for his third save, and Lee (4-2) earned the win for the Hounds.

The lead switched hands four times through the opening five innings. Aiken starter Anthony Telford left with the lead after five innings, but an unearned run in the sixth tied the game for the Redfish and left him with a no-decision.

Telford allowed three runs, two earned, on four hits while striking out seven and walking none. He allowed a Billy Hogan solo shot and an unearned run in the fourth as Charlotte County went ahead 3-2.

Aiken responded with two runs in the fifth on back-to-back RBI singles by Garth McKinney and Tony Harper.

The Hounds were led at the plate McKinney, Hunt, and Ben Bando, who each had two hits. Bando drove in a run and scored twice while McKinney scored a run and added an RBI.

Josh Murray, Jason Hurst, and Michael Muscato each had two hits in four at-bats for the Redfish.

Aiken will look for the three-game series sweep on Saturday night when they host the Redfish at 7:05 PM.
