SANDY, Utah - Utah Royals FC has reached new agreements with GK Nicole Barnhart, MF Gunny Jónsdóttir and FW Taylor Lytle ahead of the 2020 National Women's Soccer League season. All three players have been with the club since its inception and return for their third year at URFC. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
"Barnie, Gunny and Taylor are great representations of what it means to be a Royal, both on and off the field, and we are happy to have them return for year three," General Manager Stephanie Lee said.
In 2019, Barnhart recorded a career-best 10 shutouts, the second-most in a single season league history, registering 61 saves while playing every minute of the season.
Jónsdóttir appeared in all 24 matches in 2019, finishing second on the team with four assists while adding one goal, bringing her Royals FC totals to 48 appearances in two seasons.
Lytle suffered a season-ending injury during the 2019 preseason that sidelined her for the entirety of the year. However, during her first season in Utah the forward contributed two assists in 10 matches.
Additionally, Utah Royals FC have waived FW Cali Farquharson.
