
Three Players Added to BlueCats Roster for 2006

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats coaching staff is continuing to put the finishing touches on the team's roster as they prepare for training camp in March. Recently, the team signed three more players to the 2006 roster. The group consists of veteran running back Kevin Galbreath, wide receiver/safety Chris Medlen, and rookie defensive lineman Johnny Brown. Training camp begins next week for all teams in the UIF, with the BlueCats hosting the Rock River Raptors on March 25th at Roberts Stadium, in UIF Week One.
Running back Kevin Galbreath joins the BlueCats this season after playing last season for the Tennessee Valley Raptors. Galbreath appeared in 8 games for the Raptors, rushing for 160 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also caught 7 passes for 49 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Galbreath played college football at North Texas where he led the Mean Green to back-to-back Sun Belt Conference championships. He earned first team all-conference both seasons. Galbreath and his North Texas teammates played in the New Orleans Bowl in 2001 and 2002, with Galbreath earning Most Outstanding Player honors for his record breaking performance in their 2002 New Orleans Bowl win. He scored a touchdown in the game, and rushed 28 times for 130 yards, a New Orleans Bowl record at the time. He was also recognized as an All-American honorable mention in college and was on standby with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2003.
He attended Edmond Santa Fe High School in Oklahoma where he played football, baseball, basketball, and track. Galbreath finished 3rd in the state in the 100 meter dash and was part of the state champion 4x100 meter relay team in 1998.
Wide Receiver/Safety Chris Medlen will make is indoor football debut in Evansville in 2006. His most recent professional playing experience was in the Allgaeu Comets in the German Football League. He played receiver and free safety in Germany, catching 42 passes for 720 yards, and intercepting 5 passes.
In college he played for St. Mary's College where he was a unanimous all-conference selection and 1st team All-American. He also played in the National All-Star game in Dallas.
Medlen is originally from Lawrence, Kansas, where he attended Lawrence High School.
The BlueCats would also like to welcome defensive tackle Johnny Brown who will be making his professional debut in 2006. Brown is a 6'1" 337 lbs. defensive lineman from Oakland, California. Last fall, he attended Southern Oregon where he recorded 40 tackles, a fumble recovery, broke up one pass, and was second on the team with 7 tackles for loss. He redshirted at Southern Oregon in 2004. In 2003, he played at NCAA Division 2 Northwood (Michigan) where started 10 games at nose guard and was credited with 37 tackles. He played for Laney Junior College in 2001 and 2002 where he earned all-conference and all-golden gate honors on the defensive line.
Brown attended Fremont High School in Oakland where he was named to the all-city team for 3 years and earned all-state honors in 2000.
