ORLANDO - August 4, 2015 - Orlando Predators wide receiver Brandon Thompkins has been named the Arena Football League's Playmaker of Week 19 for his performance in a 64-50 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks this past Saturday.
Thompkins (5-10, 190, Arkansas State) scored three times on the night while helping the Predators clinch the team's second-consecutive South Division title. The fleet-footed wideout hauled in four catches for 28 yards and one touchdown while adding three carries for 34 yards and another score on the ground. Thompkins also tacked on six kick returns for 197 yards, including a 56-yard return for a touchdown that sparked the Predators comeback win against Jacksonville.
Thompkins currently leads the League with 3,150 all-purpose yards, averaging 196.9 yards per game. The all-around playmaker has proven his versatility by scoring touchdowns five different ways this season (receiving, rushing, passing, kickoff return, missed field goal return). Thompkins also ranks second in the league in kick return yardage (1,720) and third in kick return touchdowns (5).
The Predators take on the Tampa Bay Storm this Saturday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. The matchup is the regular-season finale for both teams and is "Fan Appreciation Night" at the Amway Center.
