Third Annual Amerks Street Hockeyfest Set for Saturday, August 16

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that the team will host its third annual Amerks Street HockeyFest for kids ages 18 and under on Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex, located in Brighton, NY, on the campus of Monroe Community College (MCC).

Registration for the street hockey tournament is now open at www.amerks.com/StreetHockey. The coed tournament is open to boys and girls ages 18 and under at a cost of $125 per team. Each team will consist of up to five players and will be guaranteed at least three games in the all-day, rain or shine event, which begins at 9:00 a.m. Every player will receive an Amerks Street HockeyFest t-shirt and vouchers (five total per team) for tickets to the Amerks 2014-15 Home Opener on Friday, Oct. 10 (opponent TBA). Registrants of the tournament will also be able to purchase additional vouchers to the Amerks Home Opener at a discounted rate.

Registration for the tournament is open on a first come, first serve basis. The tournament will consist of five divisions based on USA Hockey guidelines for the upcoming season. New this year is the inclusion of a Micron Division for kids age 6 and under.

- Microns - 6 and under (birth year 2008 or later)

- Mites - 8 or under (birth year 2006-2007)

- Squirts - 10 or under (birth year 2004-2005)

- Pee Wee - 12 or under (birth year 2002-2003)

- Bantam - 14 or under (birth year 2000-2001)

- Midget - 18 and under (birth year 1996-1999)

Games will be played 3-on-3 plus a goaltender and one optional substitute on the parking lot surface at Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex. Participants are responsible for bringing their own equipment, including sneakers, hockey sticks and gloves. Goaltender equipment is mandatory, while helmets are mandatory for microns, mites and squirts. Additional protective gear is optional, but recommended. Each player will also need to complete a waiver prior to participating.

The deadline for registration is Friday, Aug. 8 or when registration is full. Fans with questions regarding the Amerks Street HockeyFest can contact the team's front office at 585-454-5335.

The third annual Amerks Street HockeyFest will take place during the Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex 2014 Summer Fest on August 16. The Summer Fest will include a hockey expo, adult street hockey tournament, arena flag football tournament, live music, great food and lots of family fun.
