Davie, FL - November 9, 2006 - In what has been a highly anticipated rivalry, the ABA looks to kick off their season in South Florida by having regional rivals the Miami Tropics ( www.miamitropics.com), and the Palm Beach Imperials (www.palmbeachimperials.com) square off on Saturday November 11, 7:30 pm, at University Center Arena of Nova Southeastern University.

"This is what we've been waiting for," commented Art Alvarez, the Miami Tropics' team President and co-founder. "Our team has been practicing day in and day out. This may be our first year but I think we're ready to compete with the best."

The Miami Tropics, without having played a single game in the ABA, have been widely picked to win the ABA Championship this year and consistently rank in the top 2 in most major ABA preseason polls.

Facing the Tropics will be their neighbor to the north, the Palm Beach Imperials, a team led by former University of Virginia standout Lamont Carr, who also was the subject of a Disney Channel Move, Full Court Miracle.

"I'm not making any promises. But I'll tell you something, our guys are hungry and they are out for victory," stated Carr, who has been fielding his basketball team since last March.

The Imperials will have their home opener at the University Arena of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton on November 21 against the Jacksonville Jam.

The two teams, both owned by the Imperiali Organization, www.imperiali.org, were founded to bring fan-friendly, affordable, ABA basketball here to South Florida.
