The Smiths Bid Farewell To Indoor Football

January 16, 2010 - Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL)
Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release

LAKE CHARLES, LA - Thom Hager, president of the Southern Indoor Football League and owner of the Louisiana Swashbucklers discovered that Albert and Brandon Smith have decided to end their chapter in indoor football. The Smiths were the former owners of the Katy Ruff Riders who were affiliated with the Intense Football League. They had later moved their franchise to Abilene to play in the Indoor Football League.

"This is a sad day for those of us who work so diligently to find solid owners to field teams in their respective markets," Hager said. "The Smiths were a class act. While the Swashbucklers were formidable challengers to the Ruff Riders on the field, the Smiths were always gracious hosts. They went out of their way to make us feel at home when we played them in their arena. When so many teams today are underfunded, it was a nice to work with a group you could always count on for being on time on game days and paying their way. When one of our partners experienced a cash flow crunch in the Intense league, Albert was the first to step in and help.

We wish both Albert and Brandon the very best in their future endeavors and thank them for their contributions to our sport."
