The OSC interview: Philadelphia Soul WR/DB Marcus Knight

In only four games, Philadelphia Soul WR/DB Marcus Knight has 22 receptions for 334 yards and 10 touchdowns. He is coming off a five-TD performance in a 64-41 Soul win over Grand Rapids. Knight previously played wide receiver at Michigan University and also played for the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the NFL. In 2002 while playing for the Raiders, Knight averaged 24.3 yards on kickoff returns with a long of 65 yards. He was able to participate in Super Bowl XXXVII vs. Tampa Bay on January 26th 2003 when he had eight kick returns for 143 yards.

Fran Stuchbury: How did you get interested in playing Arena football?

Marcus Knight: I've seen it on television. I had people tell me about it that it might be an avenue I can take.

FS: Did you enjoy the time you spent while playing with the Oakland Raiders?

MK: Yes, it was great, I miss the outdoor game. I like playing the outdoor game. I've been playing the outdoor game all my life. This is my first time in the AFL.

FS: How do you like playing under coach Fuller?

MK: Coach Fuller is a great coach, great motivator and players coach, and he is doing a great job.

FS: In your bio you mentioned that WR Tim Brown was a role model for you.

MK: Tim is a spiritual man who goes out and works hard everyday. He's had a successful career. Who wouldn't want to mold themselves after Tim Brown?

FS: How did you like playing in SuperBowl XXXVII vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

MK: It was a great experience, the best time of my life. Unfortunately, we lost, but besides that everything else was great.

FS: Did you enjoy the time you spent playing college football for the Michigan Wolverines?

MK: It was great. I played with a lot of stars that are in the NFL, like quarterbacks Brian Griese, Tom Brady and others. It's been a blessing. My career has been blessed, and I just want to continue on and get better.
