Newport Gulls 10 - Winnipesaukee Muskrats 4

Cardines Field in Newport R.I.- The Newport Gulls (17-9) posted double-digit runs against the Winnipesaukee Muskrats (10-15), 10-4.
The Muskrats got things started with four runs in the second and third inning when first baseman Sebastian Mueller (Quinnipiac) blasted a homer, knocking in catcher Zach DeMattio (Wheaton). The Muskrats scored twice more off of back to back doubles by right fielder Jacob Corson (Bucknell) and designated hitter Patrick Roche (Boston) for a big 4-0 lead.
The Gulls put in a quick response in the bottom of the third with three runs of their own with a home run by designated hitter Trent Farquhar (Michigan State) and a double hit by third baseman Slate Alford (Mississippi State) for a 4-3 score. Newport shut out the Muskrats the rest of the game and put up an additional seven runs to blow past the Muskrats and take a 10-4 win. The seven-run effort was highlighted by center fielder Colton Ledbetter (Samford) who smacked the second homer of the night in the eighth.
Alford led the way in batting stats as he was 3-for-4 with four RBI while Ledbetter and first baseman Noah Martinez (Central Connecticut State) tied with the most runs on the night with three.
The Gulls carry their momentum to a road matchup against Coastal Division foes, the Ocean State Waves (13-15) tomorrow at 6:30 pm while the Muskrats try to snap their losing streak with a battle against the North Adams Steeplecats (5-20) at 6pm.
Martha's Vineyard Sharks 12 - Bristol Blues 7

Vineyard Baseball Park in Oak Bluffs, Mass.- The Martha's Vineyard Sharks (14-11) put an end to the Bristol Blues five game win streak in an offensive showdown.
The Blues got out to an early lead in this one as Ben Huber (UConn) launched a two run home run in the third to put Bristol on top. That lead was extended an inning later when Jay Harry (Penn State) plated a run on an RBI single to make it 3-0. Blues starter Reed Mascolo (Wake Forest) kept the Sharks offense at bay with five shutout innings, but the floodgates opened for Vineyard after his departure.
The Sharks scored six runs in the sixth on RBI singles from Michael Snyder (Washington), Matthew Maloney (Dayton), Logan Chambers (Tennessee), and Danny Crossen (Northeastern), as well as a sac fly from Ben Nardi (Catholic) to go up 6-3. The Sharks struck for six more in the eighth on singles from Cavan Brady (Wheaton) and Harrison Brown (Austin Peay St) as well as a sac fly from Crossen, and a three run home run from Snyder to go up 12-3. The Blues fought back with four more in the ninth on a two run home run from Josh Spiegel (Penn State) and a two run single from Harry, but the rally was not enough to overcome the deficit.
The Sharks will head north to take on the Sanford Mainers on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The Blues will head to Rogers Park to face the Danbury Westerners Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
Upper Valley Nighthawks 7 - Vermont Mountaineers 6

Montpelier Recreation Field in Montpelier Vt.- The Upper Valley Nighthawks (13-13) took their second straight matchup against the Vermont Mountaineers (22-4).
Upper Valley scored four in the third inning. The runs came via the extra base hit thanks to a triple by Tyler Sorrentino (Charleston), a double by Max Grant (Canisius), and a two-run home run by Ryan Ignoffo (Eastern Illinois) for his league leading ninth dinger of the season. As the game stayed 4-0, Jack Choate and Randall Alejo (Saint Rose) turned in outstanding outings, shutting the Vermont offense down through the first seven innings of the game.
The Nighthawks padded its lead in the top of the seventh inning on a Grant double, and again in the eighth on a sac fly from Grant, who tallied three RBI in the win. Vermont began a comeback attempt in the bottom of the eighth with a three-run home run from Mark Trotta (William and Mary), and a solo home run from Tom Ruscitti (Fairleigh Dickinson) to cut the Nighthawks lead to 6-4. With the Mountaineers surging, Luca Trigiani provided insurance with a sac fly in the top of the ninth. Vermont continued fighting as they scored in the bottom of the ninth on a sac fly and error, but it wasn't enough as Trey Nordmann struck out the last batter swinging to end the game.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday at Maxfield Sports Complex. The game will begin at 6 p.m.
Sanford Mainers 6 - North Adams SteepleCats 4

L - Nate Beal 1-2 (Pennsylvania): 0.1 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 2 BB, 0 K
Joe Wolfe Field in North Adams, Mass. - A five-run seventh inning propelled the Sanford Mainers (12-14) to victory over the North Adams SteepleCats (5-20) Friday night at Joe Wolfe Field.
North Adams struck first in the bottom of the first inning, starting with a lead-off single by Hunter Pasqualini (Central Conn.) who was driven in later in the inning by a sac fly by Cedric Rose (UMass Lowell). The SteepleCats took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third off an RBI single by Rose. Rose would drive in two more runs in the fourth off another single, going 3-for-5 on the night.
A sac fly by David Bermudez (Manhattan College) in the top of the fifth put the Mainers on the board and in the seventh inning, Calvin Hewett (Vanderbilt) hit a two-run home run, his first of the year, to cut the deficit to just one run. The big inning continued with a two-run single by Alex Knapp (George Mason) and a sac fly by Quinn McDaniel (Maine Orono) to give the Mainers a 6-4 lead.
Both teams return to play on Saturday, July 8th, with the SteepleCats playing on the road against the Winnipesaukee Muskrats (10-15) at 6:00 p.m. while the Mainers host the Martha's Vineyard Sharks (14-11) starting at 6:30 p.m.
Mystic Schooners 3 - Keene Swamp Bats 2

Alumni Field in Keene, N.H.- The Mystic Schooners (14-10) claimed a close 3-2 victory against the Keene Swamp Bats (10-16).
The Swamp Bats jumped on the board in the first when center fielder Lucas Costello (Wake Forest) got home off of a wild pitch for an early 1-0 lead. The Schooners had a response in the third inning when first baseman Addison Kopack (Rhode Island) got center fielder Anthony Donofrio (Quinnipiac) home to tie the game up 1-1.
Both teams swapped runs with Keene third baseman Tony Santa Maria (Rutgers New Brunswick) hitting a double to left field to bring in Costello and Mystic third baseman Logan Allen (Bryant) bombing one out of the park to tie the game 2-2 score after seven innings.
Mystic captured the lead with a hit by right fielder Michael Bello (Auburn) to score left fielder Kevin Ferrer (Connecticut) for the winning run. The Schooners defense shut down Keene in the final two innings as a 6-4-2 double play and four strikeouts retained the victory.
The Schooners take their hot streak back on the road when they face the North Shore Navigators (7-18) tomorrow at 4:05pm as the Swamp bats try to bounce back with another home game with the Valley Blue Sox (13-14) at 6:30pm.
North Shore Navigators 3 - Danbury Westerners 2

Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass.- The North Shore Navigators (7-18) held on for a 3-2 victory over the Danbury Westerners (12-15).
Runs were at a premium at Fraser Field on Friday night. Both starting pitchers shut the other team out for the first three innings. North Shore's Luke Marshall threw another shutout inning in the fourth, then the Navigators put some pressure on the Westerners.
Max Viera (Northeastern) led off the fourth inning with a triple. Nathan Blasick (West Virginia) drove him in on a single to score the game's first run. He was moved over on a bunt from Justin Cassella (Elon), and Ty Dooley (Radford) moved Blasick to third base on a single. Jake McElroy (Holy Cross) hit an RBI groundout to make it 2-0.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Blasick led off with a walk. He stole second base, then Dooley drove him in on a single to extend the Navigators' lead to three. In the top of the ninth inning, with one out, Danbury's Korey Morton (Connecticut) reached on a bunt single and advanced to second base on an error. Jett Lovett (Georgia Tech) drove him in on an RBI single. Joseph Skarad (Sacred Heart) walked, then Lovett and Skarad advanced on a passed ball. Jermaine White (St. John's) drove Lovett in on a groundout and made it 3-2. Finally, Peyton Heisner induced a flyout that ended the game.
The Navigators will play a doubleheader today against the Mystic Schooners, which will start at 4:05 p.m. The Westerners will face off against the Bristol Blues today at 6:30 p.m. at Rogers Park.
Ocean State Waves 9 - Valley Blue Sox 3

L - Ryan Robidoux 0-2 (Westfield State): 3.0 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 0 BB, 0 K
Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Mass.- The Ocean State Waves (13-14) had a dominant win over the Valley Blue Sox (13-15).
The Waves put the pressure on from the start. With one out, Peter Ciufredda (Lafayette) hit a single, which was followed by Donovan Cash (Kennesaw) being hit by a pitch. Brodey Heaton (Belmont) drove a single into left field that drove Ciufredda in. The throw home got by the catcher and out of play, which allowed Cash to score. Heaton was driven in on a Drew Holderbach (Marietta) RBI groundout.
Two innings later, the Waves pounced again. Jake Studley (Connecticut) led off with a single, then Ciufredda drove him in on a double to make it 4-0. Cash flew out to right field and Ciufredda tagged and went to third base. The throw to third base got by the third baseman and allowed Ciufredda to score. With the bases empty and one out, Heaton hit a single and advanced to third base on an error. He was driven in on a Holderbach single. Holderbach was later driven in on a Max Johnson (Indiana) RBI single to make it 7-0.
The Waves' pitching staff kept the Blue Sox in check with only three runs allowed and 11 strikeouts, and that allowed them to secure a 9-3 victory.
Ocean State will have a Pell Bridge Rivalry game against the Newport Gulls (17-9) at 6:30 p.m. today. The Blue Sox's next game will be today on the road against the Keene Swamp Bats (10-16) at 6:30 pm.
