Winnipesaukee Muskrats 2 - North Shore Navigators 0

L - Luke Marshall 1-4 (Fairfield): 6.0 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 6 K

S - Ian Murphy 1 (St. John's): 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

Robbie Mills Field in Laconia, N.H. - The Winnipesaukee Muskrats (17-21) defeated the North Shore Navigators in a tight shutout victory.

In the bottom of the first inning with one out, Brendan Concannon (Paris JC) singled. Cristian Mercedes (S. New Hampshire) walked, and both came around to score on wild pitches. That was all the scoring for the day. The Muskrats did not allow a North Shore runner beyond second base. Brenden Albridge (Rhode Island College) provided three innings out of the bullpen with only one baserunner allowed, while Ian Murphy struck out three batters in his save.

Winnipesaukee will be on the road today to face the Vermont Mountaineers at 6:30 p.m. The Navigators will be on the road for a 6:30 p.m. matchup today with the Mystic Schooners.

Upper Valley Nighthawks 8 - North Adams SteepleCats 0

W - Chris Lotito 1-0 (Jacksonville): 5.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, 5 K

L - Jack McCullen 0-1 (Lafayette): 3.0 IP, 2 H, 3 ER, 6 BB, 2 K

Maxfield Sports Complex in Hartford, VT - The Upper Valley Nighthawks (18-21) had a shutout victory over the North Adams SteepleCats (8-30).

The scoring started in the bottom of the first inning when Tyler Sorrentino (Charleston) scored on a wild pitch. Clay Stearns (Troy) drove in his second run of the game on a sacrifice fly. Two innings later, William Sullivan hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0, then Clay Stearns hit another sacrifice fly.

The Nighthawks consistently reached base throughout the game, as the team reached base safely 16 times, which allowed them to score eight runs. Their pitchers made sure the game was out of reach for the SteepleCats. Chris Lotito went five scoreless innings with five strikeouts, then Michael O'Hanlon (Hofstra) and Austin Wainer (Bryant) each threw two scoreless innings with two strikeouts.

The Nighthawks will next be facing the Keene Swamp Bats on the road at 6:30 p.m. today. The SteepleCats will remain on the road today for a 6:35 p.m. matchup against the Valley Blue Sox.

Sanford Mainers 12 - Valley Blue Sox 1

W - Matthew Sapienza 3-0 (Georgetown): 6.0 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 6 K

L - Sam Belliveau 0-2 (Umass Amherst): 5.0 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 3 K

Goodall Park in Sanford, ME- The Sanford Mainers (19-20) got one step closer to an even record as they blew out the Valley Blue Sox (16-23), 12-1.

Both teams stayed even in the first with the Mainers' first baseman Aidan Kane (Delaware) and Valley's right fielder Chase Hanson (Hope International) each hitting singles to send it to the second inning, 1-1.

The Mainers began their offensive explosion in the third when shortstop Jake Rainess' (Maine Orono) single got Kane and second baseman Quinn McDaniel (Maine Orono) home along with Rainess getting a run himself off of a wild pitch to take a 4-1 lead.

The Mainers continued to put the game away in the sixth, seventh, and eighth frames with eight more runs highlighted by a center fielder Calvin Hewitt (Vanderbilt) sacrifice fly, a run by catcher MJ Lucas (North Carolina Asheville) from a wild pitch, and multiple singles to make the score 12-1 to close out the night.

Kane was the most efficient at bat and as a runner going 3-for-3 with three runs, one RBI and a stolen base.

The Mainers take a day before they remain home to keep their win streak alive against the Winnipesaukee Muskrats (17-21) tomorrow at 6:30 pm while the Blue Sox get back home to take on the North Adams Steeplecats (8-30) today at 6:35 pm.
