Montpelier Recreation Field in Montpelier, Vt. - The Westerners (9-9) became just the second team to beat Vermont (17-2) and the first to win at Montpelier Recreation Field this year with a 4-2 victory.

Danbury jumped in front early with a 4-run top of the first inning. Five of the first six batters reached base safely, including RBI singles by Hank Thomas (Ohio State) and Jett Lovett (Georgia Tech), and a two-run single by Jackson Taylor (Indiana State).

Ben Williamson (William & Mary) got the Mountaineers on the board when he singled home Connor Hujsak (VCU) in the fourth. Vermont added an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth when Stephen DiTomaso (George Washington) walked and scored on an error, but Oldham got Williamson to ground out with the tying runs on base to get the Westerners back to .500 for the year.

Danbury starter Sean Hogan (Williams) tossed four innings of one-run baseball. Hogan struck out three and gave up just two hits. Higgins tossed three scoreless innings to earn the victory.

The Westerners host Upper Valley tomorrow at 6:30 PM at Rogers Park, while Vermont enjoys a day off before heading to Holyoke to face the red-hot Blue Sox on Wednesday.
