Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(LANCASTER, CA) - The JetHawks brought their brooms to Clear Channel Stadium Friday night. Strong pitching by starter Chris Jones and two relievers, along with a three home run offensive attack, led the JetHawks to finish off a sweep of the San Jose Giants with a 6-3 win. Lancaster has now swept both series they've played this season against San Jose. The win for the JetHawks, their tenth in 12 games, gives them a chance to move into a tie for first place in the second half.
Unlike the previous two games in which Lancaster had to come from behind, the JetHawks controlled this one throughout, giving the 2,825 fans plenty to cheer about. The JetHawks took advantage of a pair of walks in the first inning for a run, then added two more runs in the second on doubles by Zak Farkes and Daniel Nava.
Home runs provided the rest of the scoring for Lancaster. Josh Reddick, Luis Exposito, and Yamaico Navarro each hit solo shots.
That proved enough for the JetHawks pitching staff. Jones, who had struggled at home all season, came up with his first victory in Lancaster. Jones allowed just two unearned runs over five innings to even his record at 5-5. Derrick Loop held the game for three and 2/3 innings, while Jason Blackey struck out Bobby Felmy to earn his second save.
Nava, Navarro, Mike Jones, and Exposito all had two hits in the JetHawks victory.
The JetHawks open a three-game road trip Saturday night against High Desert. Tony Bajoczky (4-4) starts for Lancaster while the Mavericks counter with Travis Mortimore (1-2). The game starts at 7:05 PM. The radio coverage is broadcast live on Magic 1340 AM and online at www.JetHawks.com. The Pre-Game Show begins at 6:50.
Individual game tickets for all JetHawks home games, including playoff games, are available in person at the JetHawks Box Office Monday - Friday from 10 AM - 5 PM or Saturdays from 10 AM - 3 PM. Great ticket packages for multiple games are also available starting at just $56 for eight games. More information can be found on-line at www.JetHawks.com.
