The Game You Don'T Want to Miss Is this Friday at the Dow

May 9, 2012 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
Saginaw Sting News Release

On May 5th the Sting took on the Indy Enforcers in a special event game at The Dow Event Center entitled "Travis Mills Night". The intent of the game was to raise funds to support Staff Sergeant Travis Mills and his family as they begin the long and grueling journey to overcome the obstacles the Mills family will face after Travis was critically injured in April while serving our country in Afghanistan. Through portions of tickets, t-shirts and even parking sales along with in-game promotions that included a ball toss and a "pass the helmet" during the past two home games the Sting organization, sponsors and fans were able to help Team Mills raise over $13,000!

On the same night, the Sting did something else that had never been done in the organization's four year existence, they blanked the Indianapolis Enforcers 62-0, marking their first shutout in team history.

"It's better to give than receive," stated Head Coach Fred Townsend prior to Saturday's match up against the Enforcers. Coach Townsend stressed that the Sting is more than a football team. "We want to be able to be a pillar that brings this community together."

The Sting look to bring the community back together again this Friday at The Dow Event Center one last time for the regular season. In the most anticipated game of the season, it's the battle of the unbeatens as the Saginaw Sting (7-0) take on the Dayton Silverbacks (8-0) on the Draper Auto Field.

Remember fans this night is for you as the Saginaw Sting present Fan Appreciation Night! General admission tickets are only $8 when you wear your Sting gear. The tailgate inside unity hall begins at 6PM Kickoff is at 7:30. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at The Dow Box Office between 10AM & 5PM or anytime after 10AM on gameday!
