Albany Empire News Release
ALBANY, NY - The Albany Empire is headed to the NAL Championship for the second year in a row with a close win over Jacksonville, 68-67. The Empire will face Carolina in Albany in two weeks on August 13th at 7 pm. This will be the fourth time the Empire faces the Cobras, whom they've fallen to in the past three matchups.
Tonight's game was a close one, with Jacksonville scoring as time expired to make it a one point game. QB Sam Castronova performed yet again, with 6 TD passes, 206 yards and 2 rushing TDs.
The dynamic duo of Castronova and Prince was electric tonight, Darius Prince had caught 7 passes for 99 yards and 4 touchdowns. Aaron Wascha and Dwayne Hollis also had a touchdown reception tonight.
The Empire defense came up big tonight, with 3 passes broken up and 2 sacks. Special teams provided some much needed scoring tonight. Marquel Wade returned one kickoff for a touchdown and kicker Marc Orozco put up 2 deuces.
The Empire now has 2 weeks to prepare for Carolina, the only team they've been unable to beat this season. There's no doubt that this year's championship game will be a great one. Tickets are on sale now at albanyempirenal.com/tickets.
