The Baltimore Lightning Joins the NAL

August 1, 2020 - National Arena League (NAL) News Release

The National Arena League is excited to announce a new partnership and expansion to Baltimore, Maryland. The Baltimore Lighting under the ownership of HMG Sports Marketing and Will Hanna will be joining the NAL teams to compete in the 2021 season. The Lightning have signed a three year Membership Agreement with the NAL and will play in the Royal Farms Arena.

"We are glad to be a part of the NAL and a great family of teams, owners and organizations that represent good, quality competition and family fun," Will Hanna said. "Coming out of the national situation that we're all enduring, we're excited to have the Baltimore Lightning in a position to provide a spark of entertainment for the city and the entire DMV area. We appreciate the league giving us an avenue to help our young men as well as the City of Baltimore. We look forward to a great inaugural season in 2021!"

We are grateful for the opportunity to expand our fan base and have another team in the north region.

"I thought it was important for Baltimore to join the league early," said expansion committee board member Jason Gibson. "Too many teams make the mistake of joining in late fall and early winter. Will and his staff are ahead of the process and understand the business side of the sport. That makes me excited for the NAL. Even though COVID-19 has put a stop to the way we do business, the expansion inquiries this season have been overwhelming. The future of the NAL looks bright."

The Baltimore Lighting are looking forward to adding a new avenue of entertainment in the DMV area.

"We are excited to add the Baltimore Lightning as the latest expansion team to join the National Arena League," said Commissioner Chris Siegfried. "I am looking forward to seeing the product Will and his group put on the field in 2021 and beyond."
