Pennant Races: The second-half North race is back-and-forth as both Lancaster and So. Maryland had a share of the lead last week... Lancaster went 19-9 in July, its best month since going 20-6 in May 2018... In the South, Gastonia put up a 22-5 July record and has opened a 7.5-game lead over Kentucky.
No-Hitter: Four GAS pitchers combined to no-hit Lexington 11-0 on 7/27... Roger Bernal, in his first appearance as a Honey Hunter, threw five innings and walked five but did not yield a hit... Euclides Leyer fanned three in his two innings... Quinton Torres-Costa and Sam Bordner each had one strikeout in their one inning of work... Luis Castro went 4-for-4 and Luis Roman drove in four runs with a pair of doubles.
First Half-Week Standouts: Lexington's Jordany Valdespin collected four hits vs. Gastonia 7/26... Alex Crosby had two homers and five RBI in SMD's 9-8 win over LAN on 7/26... LAN's Melvin Mercedes hit two HR in the same game... Long Island's Alejandro De Aza went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a HR vs. Staten Island 7/26... KY's Khris Davis had two HR and five RBI vs. High Point 7/26... York's J.C. Encarnacion tied the league season-high with seven at-bats vs. Charleston 7/27... Staten Island's Rusney Castillo went 5-for-6 vs. Long Island on 7/27... LEX's Rusber Estrada had two HR and four RBI vs. Gastonia 7/28... York's Jorge Martinez fanned 10 in six innings vs. Charleston 7/28... KY's Chris Shaw was 8-for-14 with five RBI vs. High Point... High Point's Zander Wiel drove in eight runs with three HR vs. KY... SMD's Mat Latos recorded two saves vs. LAN.
Second Half-Week Standouts: Gastonia's Randall Delgado struck out six Revs in three innings 7/29... High Point's Tyler Ladendorf had two homers and four RBI vs. SMD 7/29... Austin Rei of WHG had four hits, a homer and two RBI while teammate Jimmy Paredes had two HR and four RBI vs. Long Island 7/29... LI's Stephen Tarpley only allowed one hit through six innings in a no-decision vs. WHG on 7/30... LAN's Erik Manoah allowed one run and three hits over six innings with seven strikeouts vs. SI... LI's Carlos Castro had four hits vs. Kentucky 7/31.
Long At-Bats: Charleston's Alfredo Gonzalez singled in the 10th inning after facing 13 pitches from York's Duke Von Schamann.
Team Hitting: Charleston scored five times in the 10th to beat York 6-1 7/26... Five York players each had three hits in a 19-1 win over Charleston 7/27 including Melky Mesa who hit two home runs... Staten Island's 23 hits vs. Long Island 7/27 was one off the league high for the year as six 'Hawks had three or more hits... York had a nine-run third inning vs. Charleston 7/27.
Team Pitching: CWV's Ricardo Gomez, Ryan Lawlor and Kevin Siegrist combined to record the final nine outs all via strikeout vs. Lexington 7/30.
Batting Masters: LAN's Melvin Mercedes had his hitting streak snapped at 23 games on 7/27 by SMD... Zach Jarrett of Gastonia is at 23 games entering Sunday... Jarrett has reached base in 30 straight games...
Walk-Offs: Long Island walked off Staten Island in the 11th inning on a Sam Travis single (7/28)... Gastonia posted a 3-2 walk-off win over York on 7/29 as Joseph Rosa scored on a wild pitch.
Best of the Month: Long Island's Alejandro De Aza hit .394 in July... Lexington's Isaias Tejeda and Courtney Hawkins and High Point's Zander Wiel each hit 10 homers in July... De Aza and LAN's Andretty Cordero each collected 43 hits in the month... Gastonia's Reece Hampton stole 20 bases... SMD's Eddie Butler won five games while Lexington's Thomas Dorminy put together a 2.79 ERA.
