The Story:

Orlando City kicks off its Leagues Cup 2026 campaign on Wednesday against Liga MX giants C.F. Monterrey. The Lions enter this year's tournament after reaching the semifinals in the 2025 iteration, their deepest run in the inter-league competition. Last year, Orlando posted a 2W-0L-1D record in Phase One, then defeated Toluca FC in an end-of-regulation shootout in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals. City finished fourth after falling to Inter Miami CF in the semifinal and the LA Galaxy in the Third-Place Match. Martín Ojeda led the Lions with four goals across six tournament matches, including a brace in a 5-1 Phase One win over Club Necaxa.
