Albany Empire News Release
ALBANY, NY - The Albany Empire fell to Carolina for the second time this season, 58-50. The Empire lost to Carolina in their home opener by 8 points as well.
"We're the best team in the league and we're the worst team in the league. So everytime we play ourselves, we lose", said Head Coach Tom Menas, "We just kept imploding and we have to get better". The Empire travels to San Antonio this weekend, and Menas is now looking towards their next opponent - "We've got to heal up and move onto San Antonio, that's all we can do".
Quarterback Sam Castronova showed himself to be a multidimensional player yet again, throwing for 4 touchdowns, rushing for 2 and even catching a pass for 13 yards. Castronova led the Empire in rushing yards with 15 yards. Castronova and Darius Prince are proving to be an electric duo, with all 4 of Castronova's touchdown passes going to Prince. The Empire's defense had success tonight with a pick-6.
The Empire is away for their next two contests, traveling to San Antonio and then facing Carolina again. The Empire returns home to the MVP arena on Sunday, June 26th at 2:00 pm.
