Saint John Riptide News Release
Manchester, NH: The Texas Tycoons proved to be the spoilers as they escaped Manchester with a one point victory 123-122. The Millrats came out of the gate fast, gaining a 38-28 first quarter advantage. But Texas' potent offensive attack gave the Tycoons a one point lead at the break 58-57.
In the third period, Texas stunned the Millrats by running out to an 84-70 lead. But the Millrats responded with a run behind Anthony Anderson's gallant efforts. His three pointer brought Manchester to within two, 91-89 at the end of three.
The fireworks continued in the fourth, as Anderson continued to carry the Millrats on his back. Manchester led 115-106 with 4 minutes to go. Texas managed a clutch 17-7 stretch run that enabled them to claim a 123-122 lead with 8 seconds left. The Millrats were unable to get the ball to Anderson as Charles Mason committed a last second turnover, and the Manchester was unable to get another chance.
Anthony Anderson scored 33 points and dished 10 assists for the Millrats. Texas placed seven players in double figures, led by Mario Kinsey's 22.
Manchester gets the opportunity to bounce back as former SNHU star Bobby Miller and the Montreal Royal come to town for a 4:35 tap.
