Terry Sare Named PBL Coach of the Month

February 3, 2009 - Premier Basketball League (PBL) News Release

Chicago, IL - Battle Creek Knights Head Coach Terry Sare was named PBL Coach of the Month for January.

Sare led the Knights to a perfect 7-0 record in the month. The Knights currently own the PBL's best record and are the only remaining undefeated team.

"I am very honored, and humbled to receive this award, especially with all the other fine coaches in this league, that are deserving of this," said Sare. "I am so blessed, and privileged to have the opportunity to coach these young men, and work with such great people here in Battle Creek. When you have such great leaders like Coleco Bouie and Rashi Johnson it makes a coach's job easy. We understand to have success in this league, with all the great teams and coaches, you have to continue to get better each night at practice. Because, our guys are young and passionate, they have accepted this concept. They know this will help them develop as players. At the end of the day, that is what we are here for. To help young people develop."

Battle Creek outscored their opponents by an average of 7.7 points in January, good for the second largest margin of victory in the PBL. The Knights also averaged a PBL-best 19.0 assists per game last month and are second in the league in field goal percentage at 50.8%.

"Terry is a man of high quality and has been a positive influence on players, coaches and other individuals wherever he has coached," said Knights General Manager David Darkey, "The Knights are fortunate to have a person like Terry involved in our organization. The Knights ownership group is very proud of Terry receiving this award."

The Knights look to stay undefeated when they host the Quebec Kebs at 7:00PM on Thursday night.
