
Tennell, Thomas and Lindholm Honored with Yearly Awards

CHICAGO - The Arena Football League Office announced today that Spokane Shock WR ADRON TENNELL has been named Cutters Receiver of the Year, San Jose SaberCats DB CLEVAN THOMAS has been named AFL Defensive Back of the Year and Arizona Rattlers K GARRETT LINDHOLM has been named AFL Kicker of the Year.
Tennell (6-5, 210, Oklahoma) led the League in receptions (156) and scoring (336) this season. His 336 points on the year set a new single-season franchise record, as did his 49 receiving touchdowns, topping his own previous franchise mark of 40, set in 2012.
Thomas (5-10, 195, Florida State), also a First Team All-Arena selection and the recipient of the Defensive Back of the Year award, came out of retirement in 2013, taking the field for the first time since 2008. Thomas played in all 18 games for San Jose, recording a career and franchise-high 15 interceptions. He also set a new AFL single-season record for interceptions returned for a touchdown with six, breaking the previous record of four set in 2008 by Orlando's Kenny McEntyre and tied in 2012 by Chicago's Kelvin Morris.
Lindholm (5-8, 190, Tarleton State) finished the 2013 regular season with 179 kicking points, tied for the second-highest single season mark in AFL history. He converted on a League-high seven field goals and led the League in kicking percentage with a mark of 94.6. Lindholm set new single-season AFL records for PAT conversions with 158 and attempts with 167 in 2013.
