New York/New Jersey Juggernaut News Release
LITTLE FALLS, NJ....NY/NJ Juggernaut (20-11) outfielder Venus Taylor's two-run double off of Monica Triner (3-7) in the fourth inning put the Nauts up for good in a 4-1 victory over the Arizona Heat (10-20). Taylor finished 1-for-3 with two RBI.
The Nauts jumped ahead 1-0 right away when shortstop Lyndsey Klein singled home leftfielder Lauren Bauer in the first inning. Bauer reached base on a fielder's choice after third baseman Gina Oaks legged out a one-out infield single. Klein was the only player of the game with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. In her last two games, Klein is a combined 5-for-6 with three runs scored and an RBI.
NY/NJ starter Amanda Scott (9-3) held the Heat to one run on four hits, one walk, and four strikeouts in seven innings pitched. Currently leading the league in wins (9) and ERA (0.52), Scott was recently selected as the starting pitcher for the NPF East All-Star Team who will take on Team USA in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, July 13th. Triner allowed three earned runs on six hits, one walk, and four strikeouts in six innings pitched.
Arizona managed to push one run across the board in the sixth inning when an infield single by catcher Leah Braatz scored second baseman Sara Pickering, who led off the inning with a single to left. Pickering was 1-for-2 with a run scored on the night.
