Tatum Edwards Shines in 3-2 Victory

Washington, PA - After earning the nickname of "TNT" by teammates at the University of Nebraska, Taylor and Tatum Edwards ventured into professional softball. In just her second professional game throwing to her twin sister, Tatum Edwards was dynamic as she carried the Pennsylvania Rebellion to a 3-2 victory over the Akron Racers.

Before her exit in the middle of the fifth inning, Tatum was stellar in the circle for Pennsylvania, pitching her way to her first victory of the year. She allowed no runs and blanked four Akron batters before being relieved by teammate Sarah Pauly, who earned the save.

As both teams were deadlocked at zero through three and a half innings of play, the Rebellion lit up the scoreboard in the fourth. Second baseman Lauren Lappin singled to score pinch runner Ashley Carter, putting Pennsylvania up by one. Later, Briana Hamilton followed Lappin's lead with her own RBI single to end the inning with a 2-0 Pennsylvania lead.

In the sixth, Mandy Ogle gave the Rebellion an important insurance run off a solo blast to make the score 3-0 before Akron added two in the seventh. Nerissa Myers scored two runs for the Racers off of an RBI single in Akron's last at bat, but it wasn't enough as Pennsylvania ended the game, 3-2.

The Rebellion offense out hit Akron 8-7, with Hamilton and Ogle leading the pack. The first baseman and right fielder both hit 2-3 with an RBI.

Alison Owen walked away with the loss for Akron, as she gave up three runs in five innings.
