Tarpons Kicker Ross Gornall Named Special Teams Player of the Week

FT. MYERS, FL - The UIFL has announced its weekly honors for the week ending April 1.

The Conquest Cards Offensive Players of the Week are Eastern Kentucky receiver Aric Evans (South) and Erie receiver Tirone Morris (North). Evans has been a consistent force for the Drillers all season, and he picks up his first honor of the season. He finished the contest with seven catches, 119 yards and two touchdowns.

Morris has battled through a quarterback change in Erie to continue to post big numbers. In the win over Eastern Kentucky Sunday, he had seven receptions for 135 yards and four scores.

Johnstown defensive back Quenteen Robinson (North) and Eastern Kentucky's George Jackson (South) have earned All-Star PR Cincinnati Defensive Player of the Week honors. Robinson recorded five tackles, two interceptions and two pass break-ups in the Generals' victory over Western Pennsylvania. Jackson recorded six tackles and one interception.

Florida Tarpons kicker Ross Gornall is starting to really rack up the accolades, earning Trophy Awards Special Team Player of the Week in the South. It's the second such honor for Gornall, who connect on six extra points with an UNO, a 47-yard field goal, and an onside kick. Gornall also won the honor for the last week.

The Florida Tarpons return to Germain Arena this Friday night to take on the Rome Rampage. The Tarpons are in 1st place in the Southern Conference with a 3-0 record. Kickoff is 7:30pm at Germain Arena, and the doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets start at $7.00. Visit www.floridatarpons.com.
