Indiana Ice News Release
THREE DAYS, THREE GAMES: The Ice earned four of a possible six points in a tough three day, three game road swing against Chicago and Muskegon this past weekend. The Steel edged Indy 3-2 in a shootout on Friday as the Ice received regulation goals from Christian Hilbrich and Daniil Tarasov and 30 saves in net from Jon Gillies. Indiana rebounded in a big way on Saturday with a 6-2 victory that was spearheaded by three-point nights from Robbie Baillargeon and Tarasov and 31 saves by Gillies. The Lumberjacks nipped the Ice on Sunday afternoon 3-2 in overtime despite a goal-assist day by Sean Kuraly and 31 stops by Gillies.
GOAL SCORING TSAR: With two goals this weekend, forward Daniil Tarasov became the franchise's goal scoring leader with 52 goals and counting surpassing the previous benchmark of 51 set by Garrett Roe, Adirondack-AHL. His four-point weekend overall also placed him into third all-time in scoring (109 pts) passing Blake Coleman-Miami and trailing only John Kemp (190 pts) and Roe (137 pts).
FOUR WISEMEN: Entering the holiday break, the Ice has four players in the top 14 in scoring in the USHL in forwards Daniil Tarasov (34 pts, 2nd), Jake Fallon (27 pts, T-6th), Sean Kuraly (27 pts, T-6th) and Robbie Baillargeon (24 pts, T-13th). Tarasov is also tied for third in goals (15) and second in assists (19), while Fallon is fourth in assists (18). Kuraly is tied for third in goals (15), while Baillargeon is riding a five-game point streak into the break.
THE ROCK: The USHL's busiest netminder was up to the task once again last weekend as he appeared in all three games and posted a 1-0-2 record, 2.27 GAA and .929 SV%. Gillies enters the break first in the USHL in wins (13), minutes played (1265:32), saves (626) and save percentage (.923) and is second in GAA (2.47), despite playing in nine games more than the overall leader.
