Talons Remain Undefeated

December 22, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Gallup, NM. The ABA Gallup Talons defeated the Hawaii MegaForce 142-86 to move their record to 9-0 and remain as one of only three teams left unbeaten in the American Basketball Association. For the second straight game, the emergence of Matt Vail has led the Talons as Vail again came off the bench to lead the Talons in scoring with 32 points. Vail carried his hot shooting over from Gallups previous game as he was able to connect on eight 3-pointers.

The Talons as a team were successful on nine 3-pointers in the first quarter to break open the game early with a 21 point lead going into the second quarter. The Talons took a 74-43 lead into the half and never looked back as 1000 loyal Talon fans cheered their team on. On the season, the Talons are now outscoring opponents by a margin of 26 points per game and have led every quarter of every game this season. According to Coach Clayton Shields, "It has been pretty easy thus far, but we have not faced the strong west coast teams yet and we know that there are some very strong teams there. Once we play SoCal, Inglewood, LA, Beijing and others - we'll know just how good we are. For now, however, we'll enjoy the moment and bask in these victories."
