Amarillo, TX 3/28/11 - The Amarillo Venom will be at Wills Elementary School, located at 3500 SW 11th Avenue, on Friday, April 1st, from 2:00 until 2:45 for a TAKS test pep rally for their 5th grade students.
"It is important for these students to get their education," said Joe Morgado, the Venom's General Manager. "We want to go and support the Wills Elementary students who are about to take the TAKS and show them that we support them and reiterate how important it is to get their education."
Wills Elementary school has had a sports related theme this year and has talked to their students about practice (classroom work), playing games (tests), and now their championship game (TAKS test).
The Venom will be at home the next couple of weeks, as they take on divisional foe Allen on April 2nd and then host the Colorado Ice in a rematch on April 9th. April 2nd is the Venom's breast cancer awareness game and ladies that wear pink will get in free. There will also be a free Candy Coburn concert immediately following the game at the Amarillo Civic Center.
