1. Toronto Blue Jays General Manager J.P. Ricciardi was the featured speaker at the Ravens' inaugural Fall Baseball Luncheon, presented by the New Haven Register, News/Talk 960 WELI, and 1300 AM "The Zone." Ricciardi told New Haven Ravens fans "As far as the talent level goes, this will be the best team in our system." Among the others in attendance were the Mayor of New Haven, John DeStefano, and the Mayor of West Haven, Richard Borer. "This is a good thing in our region," DeStefano said. "One thing I've noticed is that when we set our minds to do things we get them done. Making this club stronger, the best it can be in its new parternships and with long-standing relationships, is what I'm committed to.

2. Among the dozen candidates to be the next Seattle Mariners manager is former Ravens skipper Dan Rohn. Rohn, 46, managed the Ravens to the Eastern League championship in 2000 before moving on to Triple-A Tacoma. He led the Rainiers to a Pacific Coast League co-championship in 2001. "Danny's interview was a little different, because he knew a lot about the organization, top to bottom," Mariners General Manager Pat Gillick said in a story that originally appeared in the Seattle Times. "He had managed a lot of players we discussed today. His interview took another direction. We knew his style and how he handles players.

3. The Ravens will host a tailgate prior to the Yale-Princeton Football game on Saturday, November 16. The tailgate starts at 10:00 am in the barbecue area – if it rains, we will go into the clubhouse. For only $30, you get the barbecue, soda, beer, game ticket and parking. Kickoff is at 12:30. To purchase your tickets, visit http://www.ravens.com or call (203) 782-1666.

4. Several former Ravens, along with some potential future ones, are playing in the Arizona Fall League. With Maryvale, the St. Louis Cardinals' affiliate, OF So Taguchi is hitting .353, OF Dee Haynes is hitting .270 and 1B John Gall is hitting .230. RHP Cheyenne Janke is 1-1 with a 4.50 ERA, while RHP Steve Stemle is 0-2 with a 7.63 ERA. Potential future Ravens are playing for Grand Canyon, the Toronto Blue Jays' AFL affiliate. The Ravens just signed a two-year player development deal with Toronto. OF Gabe Gross is one of the Jays' prospects in the AFL, hitting .282. He is a former first-round draft pick whom GM J.P. Ricciardi said could be at New Haven next season.

5. The Ravens are seeking memorabilia, particularly photographs, from some of the New Haven area's previous pro teams (West Haven Yankees, West Haven Sailors, New Haven's Eastern League teams from 1916-1932, etc.). If you have any such items, please contact Sam Rubin at sam@ravens.com or (203) 782-1666 x.17.

6. The newly-formed New Haven Ravens booster club got a big round of applause at the Fall Luncheon after being recognized by Mayor Borer. The club now has its own "Group" page on Yahoo. Check it out at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ravensbooster/
