
T2 Fight Back to Earn 1-1 Draw against Tulsa Roughnecks FC at Providence Park

PORTLAND, Ore. - Trailing 1-0 deep in second-half stoppage time, T2 received a late goal from Todd Wharton to earn a 1-1 draw against Tulsa Roughnecks FC at Providence Park on Saturday night. Wharton recorded his fourth goal of the season, converting from the penalty spot to help T2 secure a point.
Latest goal scored in team history
With his converted penalty kick in the 98th minute, Wharton scored the latest goal in T2 history. The previous record for the latest goal scored in team history belonged to Augustine Williams when he scored in the 95th minute against LA Galaxy II on May 24, 2018. Additionally, the goal marked Wharton's second converted penalty kick this season.
T2 against Tulsa Roughnecks FC
With the result, T2 is now 4-1-4 all-time against Tulsa, with a mark of 2-0-2 in home matches. In the first meeting of the 2019 campaign between the two sides, Portland and Tulsa played to a 1-1 draw at ONEOK Field on March 9.

In the third minute, Cristian Ojeda's free-kick attempt from the right edge of the box missed just past the right post. Seven minutes later, Foster Langsdorf laid the ball off to Hurtado at the top of the box, but his left-footed shot skipped wide past the post.
In the 13th minute, Gio Calixtro received a pass from Carlos Anguiano near the left edge of the penalty area, but Calixtro's shot just missed the target.
Tulsa took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute after Rodrigo da Costa received a cross from the right wing and sent a volley from close range into the back of the net.
Intercepting a pass just outside Roughnecks FC box, Hurtado's low shot from the left edge of the box went wide of the post in the 38th minute.
In the 79th minute, Wharton's corner-kick service found Roy Miller inside the box. Miller flicked the ball to Hurtado, but his bicycle-kick attempt was cleared off the line by a Tulsa defender.
In second-half stoppage time, a failed clearance by Tulsa fell to Hurtado inside the box, but his flicked header went over the crossbar in the 94th minute.
Portland tied the match in second-half stoppage time with a penalty kick. Nathan Smith earned the penalty kick for T2 after a hard foul inside the box. Wharton stepped to the spot and smashed his shot past Tulsa goalkeeper Mason Stajduhar to level the match at 1-1.
