Schaumburg Flyers News Release

Zero to zero, seven combined hits, nine and a half innings; that was the game situation going into the Schaumburg Flyers last appearance at the plate, in the bottom of the tenth inning.

The Flyers third baseman Jarrod Patterson changed all that as he led the inning off with a single, Tim Marks sac bunted to bring him over, pinch-hitter Ryan Walker popped out, the Kansas City T-Bones intentionally walked Geoff McCallum, and unintentionally walked the next two to hand the 1-0 victory to the host Flyers.

Flyers starter Kenny Durost threw 8.2 innings, and held up through it all, allowed only two hits, with no runs, while striking out nine T-Bones batters, earning player of the game honors. Durost has struggled a bit this season, but he showed the utmost poise and control tonight, en route to taking the lead in strikeouts for the team pitching staff, with nine.

T-Bones relief man Caleb Balbuena took the loss after coming into the game in the ninth.

Flyers reliever Chris Andel finished things up for the win, his second of the year. Andel threw 1.2 innings, facing five batters, striking out three.

The Flyers improve to 16-8 for the season, while Kansas City falls to 9-15.

The Flyers and the T-Bones continue their three game series tomorrow at Alexian Field. Game time is set for 7:05, Boy Scouts night will be hosted at Alexian Field, with the first 2500 kids will receive an inflatable bat by Capital One. It is also a 2 for 1 White Hen Wednesday, for tickets or more information visit the Flyers on the web at www.flyersbaseball.com or call us at 847-891-2255.
